What is a natural wax?
A natural wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of, for example, soybeans or rapeseed. Beeswax is also a natural wax. These waxes are biodegradable and thus have a minimal impact on the environment. The wax we have primarily chosen to use in our candles is soy wax.
What are the benefits of natural candles?
There are many benefits to scented candles with natural waxes. Natural scented candles are renewable and biodegradable, thus having a minimal impact on the environment. Scented candles burn with a clean and clear flame. The burning time is often longer, and these scented candles produce less soot than paraffin candles, which contain a byproduct from the oil industry. Another advantage of natural scented candles is that any stains from these waxes usually disappear when washed at 60 degrees.
Soy wax candles are environmentally friendly as the oil is a renewable crop. Other advantages of these candles are that they burn with a clean, clear flame and do not soot. The burning time is also longer than traditional candles.
What is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oil?
An essential oil is extracted from pressed plants and can be categorized as a natural product. Fragrance oils are usually a mixture of natural essential oils and synthetic substances. To be able to produce a variety of scents not only linked to the plant kingdom, synthetic additives must be added. We maintain a continuous dialogue with our suppliers and choose fragrance oils with the highest possible naturalness.
Is it better to use essential oils?
Both essential and synthetic oils can be irritating and allergenic. Some essential oils can be toxic if added in too large quantities and applied directly to the skin. We use the purest fragrance oils available on the market. Manufacturing scented candles solely with essential oils reduces the selection of scents. In addition, essential oils tend to evaporate if not stored in sealed containers, which affects the candle's lifespan.
How do I care for my soy wax scented candles?
Ensure that the wax is completely liquid on top of the candle and that the heat has reached the edges before extinguishing the candle. If you burn for too short a time, you risk burning a tunnel down into the candle.
Be sure to trim the wick to about 0.5 cm after each burning. This is to prevent the wick from sooting, the flame from getting too high, and the candle from burning unnecessarily fast. If the wick becomes too high or produces a lot of soot, extinguish the candle and let it cool, then trim the wick and light it again.
Store your candle dry and at room temperature, and never let it stand in direct sunlight. Soy wax candles do not like heat above 25 degrees or cold below 0 degrees as it can affect the wax.
If you spill soy wax, you can easily remove it from the surface with warm water and soap. Once you have burned your candle, you can easily wash the glass and reuse it. A tip is to place used candles upside down on a newspaper at a very low heat in the oven for a couple of minutes; then all the wax will run out onto the newspaper, and it will be easier to clean the glass.
Why is paraffin not good in scented candles?
When a paraffin candle is lit, oil combustion begins, in the same way a car engine starts. During combustion, carbon dioxide is formed, which in turn affects our climate. In addition, paraffin candles soot, which can be noticed on furniture, walls, and windows, among other things. We have chosen not to use any paraffin at all in our candles, as we believe it is far too harmful to the environment.
What is soy wax?

Why is there such a difference in price for scented candles on the market?
Many scented candles are made from paraffin. Paraffin is a fossil oil product, a cheap raw material made from a byproduct of the oil industry. Scented candles made from natural raw materials usually have a higher price, but then the quality is also better. Natural scented candles burn with a clean, clear flame and do not soot. In addition, these candles usually have a longer burning time. Our scented candles are made from carefully selected raw materials and are also handmade.
What are reed diffusers?
Reed diffusers are a great way to create an atmosphere, whether you want something calm, relaxing, or energizing. With reed diffusers, you can fill a room with lovely aromas that evoke feelings and have a positive impact on mental health. And they are quite inexpensive compared to many other options, as they last so long.
Our reed diffusers are made of wood or bamboo that you place in a container with fragrance oil. When the reed diffusers are in the container, the oil is drawn up into the reeds, spreading the scent throughout the room.
In addition to making your home smell good, different scents can help reduce stress and sadness and create an everyday luxury in your indoor environment.

How long do reed diffusers last?
Reed diffusers from The Friendly Home contain minimal alcohol, which means the fragrance oil does not evaporate, so you can enjoy your reed diffusers for several months. Flip the reeds occasionally to better spread the scent.
What are reed diffusers made of?
We only use vegetable oils in our reed diffusers, which means they are vegan. The diffuser sticks are made of natural materials such as wood or bamboo and are covered with textile fibers that absorb the oil effectively.
Are reed diffusers safe to use?
Reed diffusers are safe to use as long as they are used correctly. They should not be placed where children or animals can knock over the bottle, causing the liquid to spill onto the table surface. If this happens, it is important to wipe it up immediately to prevent stains on the table surface.
