Truly organic or just marketing

Over the years, we have noticed a great deal of conceptual confusion around words such as organic, natural, vegan and similar terms. Many believe that these words automatically imply that a candle or diffuser sticks are of particularly high quality. Here is a compilation of what the concepts actually mean, to create a better understanding.

Are there organic scented candles?

The answer is, in principle, no. The reason is that the production chain – from the cultivation of vegetable raw materials to a finished scented candle – is too long and complex to meet all the requirements for classification as organic.

Our vegetable candles are primarily made from soy or rapeseed wax grown in Europe. The process begins when the seed is planted in the soil and continues all the way until the raw material has been refined into finished wax. Once the wax reaches us, we cannot influence all the steps back in the chain. However, we can guarantee that our own production is sustainable and responsible from start to finish.

Common misunderstandings about the word "natural"

A "natural" product essentially means that it is taken directly from nature without additives. The only raw material that we can say with certainty is 100% natural is essential oils, which are distilled from plants, for example. However, this does not mean that they are harmless – many plants are poisonous and essential oils are also very concentrated.

Synthetic fragrance oils are produced in laboratories and often consist of a mix of synthetic and essential components. They are developed to comply with European legal requirements, taking into account allergies, among other things.
